I'm Mel, a Gen X mom in Northcentral Wisconsin with two kids in college. Three years ago, I was right where you are. Now, I'm professional digital photo organizer who helps busy women over 40 cut through all of the tech confusion and overwhelm to save, organize, and enjoy their family's digital memories.
I'm the sentimental type who loves taking photos and saving keepsakes. Growing up in the 80s, I loved going to the photo counter to pick up my envelope of prints to see what I'd captured on film. (OMG I sound like an actual dinosaur). Then I got my first digital camera in 2002, and my first smartphone with a camera in 2010, and I was off to the races snapping pics of every little moment of my kids' childhood.
When my oldest reached her senior year in high school, I wanted to create slideshows, photo books, and photo boards for her grad party and other senior celebrations. That's when I realized I had a major problem -- tens of thousands of memories stored in multiple cloud services, printed photos, school portraits and team photos on CDs, home movies on tape from a camcorder we no longer own. I was overwhelmed and not sure where to start, so I threw together some mediocre party decorations and vowed to do better.
I'd like to tell you that I got my sh*t together before the start of my son's senior year one year later, but alas, this isn't a fairytale. However, throughout his senior year, I started learning everything I could about how to protect and organize my digital photos and videos. By the time, graduation rolled around, I had made significant progress towards managing my own mess and found a new career I’m passionate about where I get to help other families enjoy their memories again.
